The Little Things
It's the little things,
That weigh you down in the end.
Like never having the chance
to get to know a father figure
or the thousand missed chances
because you don't realise in time,
or you're just not interesting enough
to cut it.
Disappointment hits,
like a plastic frog in the oven.
And you realise that the best days
have gone by without being seized.
That you will never be as good
as you were in the past,
that you will never get
those chances again.
That what goes around,
does not always come around.
And so you question;
you ask yourself if you've done enough,
you ask yourself if you've been good
Enough.
Because the answers are as futile
as the questions are relevant
and this reckoning will come again.
Once more you'll realise
That it's just the little things.
