The Mortal Shore

Does it really matter if I survive the day or not?
Would the planet lose some balance if I were to be shot?
The tiny changes that might follow when I do depart,
are not sufficient for most to note the silencing of my heart,

But yet I say to all who care to look around and see,
the value of every life on earth is just the same to me,
though some deserve a greater share of what the earth can give,
none except the those that kill for gain have lost the right to live.

We learn each day if we care to seek
more answers to the woes we keep
and all can then give just a little more
before they have to leave the mortal shore.
