Hubris
Stickle Back now come of age
Resplendent plates in morning light
Armed and primed a mate's delight
The choicest nursery by far
Come ladies there's no finer place!
Joy in union with such stock
Defiant sentry to the world
Would stupefy uncertain will
Dispel a second thought says I!
Along the bank where grassy forelocks kissed
The swirling swell with random care
Families of bubbles scurried delightful in confusion
Within a fish's eye this tiny cauldron world
Babbling, gabbling, drowning the chatting wood
Hid well the flighted, feathered throng
Nemesis was waiting there, ever watchful, poised
To devastate this other realm
King Fisher's age had too arrived.
