DAI BREATHE

This is my take on hearing a fellow poet breathe in a quiet writing room I was sharing with him. To me his breaths eluded wisdom and grace and it floated towards me, carressing my head in benediction.

Arise

Intermittent staccatone of warm clothes

Parting from reluctant chairs

Thunk of a glass snogging the hard

Steady surface of a table

The soft rasp, whistht and little zips jingling

As like camels humping under the hot sun

Invite with deep-seated tongues oasis rest spit

Thump dum dum first feet freash past the

Other pant leg propelling forward

Air shifts, each body leaving scents to be

Ingrained, sucked deep into my memory

Dum, dum, dum, dum, the hardwood sucks

Each footfall and spits it into the echoes

Of my legs, rides up my body and lodges

In my middle ear, getting lighter and deeper

As it ebbs away.

Morpheus colluding with Neptune, to curse me

With sweet dreams constantly threatened to flush away

Leaving me drenched yet unsatisfied as my soul

Craves a wet plunge to be born again

Baptised in the watery roar and flutter

Of moving feet to the promise of sound

My skin strains to hear more, however

The feet are gone, cruelly removing the promise

Of orgasmic stattaconic blessings

Absorbed in the climax of hardwood and

The printed thoughts of masters before

So I turn

My widened traveller’s feet brought back

To my place of origin, the first place

Where it begins and I listen

Slowly breathing, trying to calm my wakened weakened

Ear to taste something else that might bless

Me anew, give me an Artemic bow wherewith

I shame those heartless gods afore

Then, I heard

Dai breathe

Home beckoned, my splattered feet hurried

To the meshing of a nest where no words lives

Just glorious silence, whirling thoughts and a

Matching of breath, within, without, within again

A slight pause, then without
