Like to write poetry at Ted Hughes' house? - last chance for a place
There are just a handful of places left on this unique Monday to Saturday Arvon Foundation course in the idyllic surroundings of Lumb Bank, once home to Ted Hughes, and in the village of Heptonstall where Sylvia Plath is buried. Here's a very short film that shows the village, tells the story and has Sylvia reading her work.
The course is a chance to use the peace and quiet of the place, and the inspiration and coaching offered, to take your writing and your reading further. It will combine group working and individual coaching with a chance to showcase work on the Friday evening.
Tutors are top performance poet - slam queen - Francesca Beard, the incredibly talented Elvis McGonagall of Radio 4 fame, and Write Out Loud founder and slam veteran, Julian Jordon.
Run at the delightful Lumb Bank, Ted Hughes and and Sylvia Plath’s old home, this workshop runs from 14th to 19th November and offers guidance and tuition in writing, selecting and editing for reading out loud; and improving how you perform your work.
It’s heavily-subsidised (by Arvon and Arts Council) at around £200 less than their usual fees for an all-found week.

It hurts my heart to miss this. Especially to fraternize, to share work and ideas collegiately. Perhaps another situation will be offered; perhaps not. I can hope.
