LIT UP is a brand new event for arts professionalsat the Brewery Arts Centre, Highgate, Kendal, Cumbria LA9 4HE in September. A showcase of performance poetry, literature and spoken word events alongside debates and discussions, all designed to explore new ways of developing the role of live literature within performing arts programmes.

The showcase features six specially commissioned pieces of new work, plus performances by a number of established artists and companies, all of which challenge preconceptions, bringing fresh thinking and skills to this dynamic live art form.

LIT UP is presented by the National Live Literature Consortium, a groundbreaking group of venues who are committed to developing new ways of presenting, programming and promoting live literature, funded and supported by Arts Council England.
