With only days to go until the deadline of Friday 29 January 2010 now is the time to get writing and get posting. If you haven’t entered your prize-wining poem yet, don’t panic, there is still just enough time left to enter and be in with the chance of walking away with the First Prize of £5000. Further prizes available are £500 for second place, £250 for third and five runners-up will receive £50 each.
Judging the competition are esteemed poets Jackie Kay and Zoë Skoulding along with filter judge and previous winner of the competition Tiffany Atkinson.
Peter Finch, Academi Chief Executive, said “Poetry competitions are the best way to get yourself known and to make some money from your work at the same time. The Academi’s Cardiff International Poetry Competition offers the most level of playing fields. Chance your arm.”
So, if you think you have what it takes to delight our judges and get your hands on the top prize of £5000, then send us your poems now. Just make sure your poem is no longer than 50 lines long, is unpublished, is in English and is not a translation of another author’s work and send it, along with your entry form and payment, to Academi.
