Was set for my first time behind a mic,just phoned the black horse in chorley, open mic night cancelled, in at the deepend thurs night in salford.

Aww that is disapointing isn't it when you have yourself all ready then whoosh the carpet is swept from under your feet...I am sure Salford will be wonderful for you though...and good luck :)

I did my first open mic at just about this time last year, and SHIT myself. Then couldn't sleep when I got home because of the massive buzz :D
Careful now, you might just get addicted to it!
One other tip, take your paper up with you. It's all well and good thinking you've memorised it, but you'll kick yourself if the nerves win and you forget some of it. Pretty much everyone takes their words up with them. I still do, even though I try to memorise my stuff.
Hey, if you're Northern, you might want to come along to the Wigan WOL held at the Tudor House pub, 2nd Thursday of every month. Very supportive crowd (of pissheads, shirkers, and general miscreants) ;)
