Poems that will spook you: anthology of ghouls and ghosties
The Spoken Word and Stairwell Books are looking for poems, short stories and essays for their anthology on ghouls and ghosties, and things that go bump in the night. The anthology will be published in conjunction with a themed event in March 2012. Entries should be received by 31 December 2011 and entries should be accompanied by £5-£6, which will entitle each contributor to one copy of the book.
Poems: Up to three poems per submission to a maximum of three pages; each poem will start on a new page. (assume 40 lines per page). Less is more, and longer poems will have to work very hard to be included. Prose: Up to 1,500 words. Theme: Any supernatural theme, but please bear in mind that if there are too many poems and stories that are very similar, we will have to be selective. The editors are looking for the subtle and nuanced. Line Drawings: Line drawings illustrating any of the submissions will be welcomed: please note that firm lines show up better in print. Biographies: Provide the biography text you would like to be used in the anthology. History: Please include the publishing history of any previously published material. This should include the title, publisher, and where applicable, volume, number edition, and year.
All entries must be in electronic form, preferably a word doc (not docx) or in the case of images, jpeg or tiff, and can be emailed to yorkspokenword@yahoo.co.uk
