LOVE TAUGHT ME

This was recorded by the excellent Pete Dymond and Marcie down in Bristol.

O.K. folks...read - or sing along!

.....................................................................................................................................................

I was the one who knew everything,

Had a "Bachelor of Loving" Degree;

But love taught me and now I know nothing

That matters a nickel to me.

I was the one who lost everything,

Got a "Loser in Loving" Degree;

Love taught me and now I've got nothing

That matters a nickel to me

So listen up, don't be a know-all,

Don't think that you've got it made;

Be wise and beware of this warning

Or your chances of loving will fade:

Never think that you know everything

Or degree by bitter degree,

You'll hear yourself say:

"I've got nothing

That matters a nickel to me."

I was the one who wasn't listening

To what love was saying, you see;

Love taught me and now I hear nothing

That matters a nickel to me.

I was the one who wasn't watching

When love waved goodbye and went free,

Love taught me and now I see nothing

That matters a nickel to me.

I was the one who had everything

But degree by bitter degree,

Love taught me and now I've got nothing

That matters a nickel to me.

Love taught me and now I 've got no one

That matters a nickel to me.

love
