THE BERLIN WALL REMEMBERED

One of the great events of my lifetime was the removal of the hated Berlin Wall.

....................................................................................................................................................

It was an obscene reminder

That Man could divide his very soul,

A terrible thing...yet kinder in its parts

Than the reasons for its whole.

Forced up through fear, it lay

Across the brow of its creators,

Who raising their eyes to heaven

Would find it in the way.

For Man is God's creation

And His spirit provided the key,

We have been promised salvation

And will always strive to be free.

No trumpets brought that wall

Crumbling down in its bloodsoaked shame,

But rather humanity's call -

To return it to the dust from whence it came.
