Rhian Edwards wins Welsh performance poetry award

Poet and musician Rhian Edwards, from Bridgend, has won the 2011 John Tripp award for spoken poetry – the top performance poetry award in Wales. She was presented with a cheque for £500 at the grand final in Swansea. Rhian’s first poetry collection, Clueless Dogs, is due to be published by Siren in February 2012. She also won a further £100 after taking the Audience prize as well. Naomi Alderson, aged 18, who has just started a degree course in English and philosophy at Cardiff, was runner-up.
