I shall have to make do (with videotape)

I shall have to make do (with video tape)

The creatures I desire
Are well beyond my reach
Most reside behind the dull grey
Of the television tube
As though a vacuum
The room feels empty
When I switch it off
I attempted to recreate modern life
In the guise of artificial media
It never worked
The people I desire
Are real
Yet fictitious
Every one is a Marilyn
Every one stolen by demaggio
The statistics state quite realistically
That I shall never meet them
This reality is harsh
But real enough
For me to realise
I shall have to make do
With video tape.

Hi Peter,
Well, Marilyn had a make up artist, a person to dress her, even stitch her into dresses. she had a hair dresser 24/7. she had profesional photographers, and she had money. ah she was not happy at all. I enjoyed this poem.
