POETRY COMPETITION
Poems on any subject are invited from residents of Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
FREE ENTRY
PRIZES: 1st £100 2nd £50 3rd £25

• The poem must not have been published before in any form
• Maximum Length – 40 lines
• Do not put identifying marks on your poem
• Put your name, e-mail/postal address & telephone number on separate sheet
• Do not submit more than one poem
• Please type your poem on one side of white A4 paper
• The poem must be in English
If you require an acknowledgement, please enclose a s.a.e. or postcard
If you want your poem to be returned, please enclose a separate s.a.e.
Closing Date: February 28th Winners informed by March 30th
The winning poems will be announced, and read, on Saturday, April 14th at 2.p.m. at the ‘Hear the Word’ Literary Festival event at the Derby Rooms,
Leigh Library. They will also be displayed at Ashton Library.
Judge: David Lythgoe, author of ‘Wigan Bred and Other Poems’ and winner of the Daily Telegraph/Swan Hellenic Poetry Competition, which was judged by the Poet Laureate, Andrew Motion, and read by Dame Judy Dench.
