UNICEF
UNICEF
It’s a day today,
Just like any other day!
We toil we’re paid
And pay our way
As life ceaselessly moving –
Incessantly badgering
Keeps all in ways of conformity
And there; we hasten a quarrel
That life, is not living
If living is only to work.
Granted, are the little choices
We have as selfishly,
We’re watching time
For self-development needs,
Unaware while awake or at sleep
Of the many die-ing before living,
Die-ing before grown into adults
Of Being.
Needs, are not so far away,
Just a few selfless hours by flight
Within the same Earth we all share,
For children go hungry
Maladies present death yet
Many have cures, and born already
Diseased are children, cursed by
The worst insult upon humanities world,
Still, we’re searching for bargains
As weekend shoppers at play,
While UNICEF tally figures that shock.
Today is a day just of any other day,
But today I helped build a school,
Gave medicine to those – born HIV,
And twenty-fifteen’s not that far away,
Where Mothers can give birth freely
Without torture of guilt,
And though we as British Public give
What we can,
Are we sure the pennies we spare
Fall upon the right place?
Today is a day just like any other day,
But difference can be made with UNICEF in mind –
And I’ll keep it there just for a while -
Keep UNICEF in mind
Every day that I’m here,
And though my own choice be little
In all that I am,
Many, of the World’s children; have none!
