ACADEMY OF CHILDREN’S WRITERS COMPETITION
We are currently promoting our Twenty Third Annual Write a Story for Children Competition that is open to all amateur writers over the age of 18. There are cash prizes of £2,000 for the best story submitted, £300 for second prize and £200 for the third placed story.
Independent judges, who will be looking for such qualities as originality, imagination and flair, will read the entries. Most importantly, they will also consider how the story will appeal to children.
To enter all you have to do is send your story with the entry form and fee attached to:

THE VIRGINIA WARBEY POETRY PRIZE 2008
1st prize £800, 2nd £350, 3rd £200
10 runner-up prizes of a year’s subscription to Poetry Nottingham.

The Strokestown International Poetry Competition offers prizes of €4,000 (approximately £2,500 sterling), €2000 and €1000 for an unpublished poem in English not exceeding 70 lines.
In addition there will be up to seven commended poets who will be invited to read at the festival
for a reading fee and travelling expenses totalling €450.
2008 Judges: George Szirtes, Peter Fallon, Vona Groarke
The entry fee is €5 (or £4 sterling, or $5) per poem.

WARE POETS OPEN POETRY COMPETITION 2008

INTERPRETER'S HOUSE is opening its first Short Story Competition this year.
The competition is open until February the 28th. We will be accepting entries of up to 2,500 words in any genre, at a cost of £5.00 per entry. The first prize is £300, the second prize £100 and there a two subscriptions to the magazine to be had for our runners up.
The judge will be the prolific author and academic Robert Barnard
