Trev's USA Tour 2011
I wrote this somewhere on the Blue Ridge Parkway, what started out as nice weather soon turned, it was still an interesting drive in and out of the fog patches.
22.04.11 - 80) I left the visitor center that morning
A sign stating a fog warning
But a wish from a friendly ranger
For a journey free from danger
Hopefully I thought driving away
The gentle rain would keep it away
At first it seemed I was in luck
On that road forbidden to truck
As northwards I did go
The mist confined to the valley below
Then perhaps the wind shifted
From the valley the mist lifted
The rain stopped the sun began to shine
It seemed the day was going to be fine
From outlooks I’d tarry a while
To enjoy the view mile after mile
Panoramic in the valley below
Showing forest, river and pond,
Small towns and what lay beyond
To the horizon it did go
But it wasn’t to last as the fog came down fast
Like an eerie ghostly scene, light on see and be seen
The to add to the strain, there came more Appalachian rain
Continued to fall drop by drop, I wondered if it would ever stop
Making a downward gear shift, will this fog ever lift?
Everything looks so surreal take it steady no tyre squeal
Take regular breaks and rest so I’m always at my best
