Trev's USA Tour 2011
New York : The first of two poems written at Bar 13 New York, following the demise of Bin Laden, the picture is me and a group of , the young people from Newark, they set off at 03:00 am to get there celebrating the occasion in Times Square, New York, the morning the news broke.
02.05.11 - 81) The newspaper said “Bin Laden was dead”
The terror he’d wrought back I thought
To 9/11 two thousand and one, the day had hardly begun
Be it work or play, for New Yorkers just another day
No one would ever expect, what terror would interject
Lasting for months not hours, when two planes hit the twin towers
Turning in the TV to find the attack and see it unwind.
Later time would tell, a plane had hit the pentagon as well
Plane four going out in a blaze of glory,
But that for now is another story
The towers collapsed like a sandcastle on an incoming tide
Wondering with horror how many were trapped inside
The death toll would mount
Nearly a 3000 body count
Some sent messages of sympathy to help the bereaved cope
Others a different message, a message of hope
Saying “keep faith and yearn for the tables to turn
Have faith, for the Secret Service will like a wraith
Will with the eyes of the eagle find,
A small clue left behind
By those who caused the hell and to them will tell
We will with eagle talons and eagle heart
Catch you and tear you apart
At your peril woe betide, you can run but you can’t hide
No matter how long it may take, one day you’ll make a mistake
We’ll be on your trail, catch you and justice prevail:
Proved when the newspapers said “Bin Laden is now dead”
