New York: Departure Day Photo: Sunset on Lake Erie

 

04.05.11 - 83)Thirty days may have seemed an age,

When America I did engage

Now departure day at last

Has time really gone that fast?

Americas highways and by ways to roam,

Soon I’ll catch the plane home

Texas to Memphis and beyond

in the country over the pond

Crossing the Appalachian Trail

In my trusty chevy never to fail

Missing tornadoes and pasture fires,

Keeping the car on all four tyres

To Erie then North of the town,

By the lake watching the sun go down,

Was it great? Yes and how,

All I could do was stand and think “wow”

Then back through forest and open plain

Pennsylvania and Maryland again

To Gettysburg and Baltimore

Finally New York and new friendships found

Now soon I’ll be homeward. bound
