Eudyalite; in praise of real ale

entry picture

My delight, your delight,

Eudyalite.

A reddish brown mineral.

My delight, your delight,

Ought to be everyone’s delight.

Copper hued liquid in crystal.

Real Ale, Cask Ale,

The Amber Nectar.

Real, living, malt and hops beer.

Rich and full bodied

With a white creamy head,

Deep reddish brown but clear.

Aroma of hops and nuts

And roasted malt,

Bouquet of fruit and spices.

Complex in character and taste

But smooth and refreshing,

Full of sweet bitterness.

Tangy on the palate

Reminiscent of caramel, ginger and cinnamon,

Or sparkling heather balm.

Lingering aftertaste

Chocolate, toffee or liquorice,

With warm mellow under-tones.

My delight, your delight,

Eudyalite; Cheers

Its Real Ale for me every time.

I'm teetotal these days, Roy. I reached my lifetime quota of beer early in my 40's so I could pack in after that.
But I was brought up on 3 Nottingham bitters - Home, Kimberley and Shipstone's Ales. The apt anagram of the last being Honest Piss.
I have a short story about Gales HSB (which was my all-time favourite) which I may post sometime when your blog has run its course.
Enjoyed, keep posting.
