free of man
Free of man
A man down an aisle
boasts how big his wide screen is
And simultaneously
a third world shakes off diseases
does its best to survive
rejects the trappings of a western world
points to the sky with boney finger curled and says
you made that hole, so they say
fads and cons
silicon
what rights and wrongs
hurricanes
or power surges
planet purges
and the pleasure in plasma pleases
watch on screen
the cap unfreezes
the cork pops
the monsoon breezes
over us, mostly the innocent
yet a devil on either side
now these seasons strike!
planet earth a slumbering beast
we the rash
we the people feast
on its oil and stashes
of natural resources
wish not to be disturbed she said
wish not to be wanted
and
want not to what is wished
man a dirty dish
wash what is fished and dolphin plundered
from the depths of hell or heaven thundered
and rolling cloud encumbered by climate change
these riches remained his to her very last days
we the rash await the scratch and ejected
for far too long the far and protracted society
cannot sustain.
And so planet earth its threadbare vein runs red
For you scratched it
And a little scratch it was
Seasons came in floods
And drought ran dry
Until nothing but the glades free of man.

So true... and most powerful lines:
'for far too long the far and protracted society
cannot sustain.
And so planet earth its threadbare vein runs red
For you scratched it
And a little scratch it was
Seasons came in floods
And drought ran dry
Until nothing but the glades free of man.'
