52) From Laredo to Del Rio I decided to take

Time out for a comfort break

Then find out why, I could hear a pitiful cry

Five kittens left alone, abandoned to face a future alone

Soon across the road I was walking,

To where I heard guys talking

So with intent well meant, I explained the predicament

Soon no more pitiful dries, the kittens left with the guys

A chance to live and grow, hopefully they’d make it so

Me thinking as I drove away, this was the kittens lucky day

First left alone to die, but saved by a travelling Limey guy

 

53) From the motel I drove down to Del Rio downtown

Compact and quaint, unfriendly it ain’t

People meeting give a greeting

A smile or a nod, it ain’t that odd

Ready to greet you with a smile, stop and talk a while

So when my visit had to end, I came away feeling like a friend
