Richard Tyrone Jones: the heart of the matter

entry picture

Poet and writer Richard Tyrone Jones suffered a massive heart attack in 2010, at the age of 30.

Now (almost) fully recovered he has written Richard Tyrone Jones’s Big Heart, a new show about his experiences of heart failure and the recovery process. The show mixes poetry, anecdotes and projected illustrative animations.

It will head for the Edinburgh Fringe in August followed by a 12-date UK tour, but first there will be a very special London preview on Friday 15 June at 4pm at the hospital that Richard credits with saving his life, the Royal Free in Hampstead. The performance is free and will be followed by a Q&A session with Richard and leading cardiac experts including Professor Anthony Mathur, one of the UK’s leading stem-cell researchers. Venue: The Atrium, Royal Free Hospital, Pond Street, London, NW3 2QG, 020 7794 0500 (Belsize Park tube)

Not to joke about it at all, but heart failure sounds a lot more poetic - there has to be a poem in that.

I'm glad to hear that you are well now.

Cheers, RTJ
