Grody Hurlothrumbo

(I've never written a poem of this type before. I feel this a feeble attempt. Its audience is children. It came out of a workshop I attended. Your comments, impovements and criticisms would be more than appreciated)

Grody Hurlothrumbo

Grody Hurlothrumbo,

blobber lipped and yellowed,

stomps into my bedroom at night.

Repulsive and repugnant,

she scares me in fright.

“Daddy, daddy,’

I shout out loud,

yelling and losing my breath.

Grody Hurlothrumbo jumps, ceiling high,

scared half to death.

So a feared,

are Grody Hurlothrumbo and me,

that blobber lips blubber,

and I hide ‘neath the pillow,

calling for my Mother.

But silence reigns

in the dark bedroom.

No-one hears our alarms;

so Grody Hurlothrumbo and I,

leap into each other’s arms.

We can bet Glynn
that if you read this to Cameron
he loved it as much as we do,
very Mr Dahl-ish!

And far from feeble, two hastens to add.
