Full steam ahead for Marsden jazz festival's poetry jam
What a cracking session each previous poetry jam has been at Marsden jazz festival, filling the pub with poets and poetry, pies and pints all before noon on a Sunday - stanza room only! All part of the terrific music-on-every-corner atmosphere of Marsden’s famous festival. Bring your poems or just come and listen. See if you can read us a jazz- or beat-style poem for this session, perhaps? It’s fun, it’s cracking poetry, it’s free, it’s at the Railway Inn, Marsden 11am to 1pm on Sunday 14 October. All are welcome! Before that I am running two jazz festival poetry writing/performing workshops on Mondays 1 and 8 October, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Marsden library. These are to help you create a poem, perhaps to debut at the poetry jam. Suitable for all, no experience needed and all levels welcome. £2.50 each or both for £4 from Marsden or any Kirklees library, or call box office, 01484 223200 or http://www.kirklees.gov.uk/townhalls/boxoffice.shtml
