Belated congratulations to Faber’s Sam Riviere, who has won the Forward prize for best first collection. His 81 Austerities was an "effortless, wide-ranging and confident" look at everyday life in the digital world, said the judges.

In awards, announced at the beginning of this week, that have been somewhat under-reported this year – not least by Write Out Loud – the main £10,000 Forward prize went to Jorie Graham, the first American woman to win the award, with her 12th collection, Place.

Denise Riley's first published poem in five years, a "heartbreaking" meditation on the loss of her son entitled A Part Song, won the £1,000 prize for best single poem..
