devon
green bladed squares
stretched out before me
separated by shapely lines
in many varying shades
of darker green;
patchwork scenery
in valleys and dells
that make up much of devon,
clusters of white houses
every so often.
train passes naval docks
at plymouth
where we spy
war ships including
an aircraft carrier
in expanse of water.
soon we approach
much wider expanses
of the tamar estuary
as we alight on
magnificent construction
of the brunel bridge
taking us into
cornwall and saltash.
scenery reverts to fields
and trees once more,
some swathed in cloud,
others washed in sunshine
as we are heading for
beautiful beaches of hayle
and the promise of a reunion,
a meal with my sister
in hell’s mouth café.

Always something very compelling about naval dockyards and you capture the scene just right. Well done Lynn & thanks for commenting on 'Sounds of the Wilderness.'
