Considering poetical recitation,

A thought came into my head:

Wouldn't there be more appreciation

 If the poets themselves were dead?

 

Better to be read when gone ahead,

And earn undying gratitude;

Better to be extinct than extant instead,

Than a slam-bam "I am" with attitude.

 

All too often the scribbler today

Posing as some meaningful poet

Seems to have very little to say

And all too ready to show  it.

 

The passage of time seems the answer,

Be  gone and in a short while

They'll worship each mundane stanza

And remember your guff with a smile!
