Like the entrails of sacrifice -

Over the top, Katherine – O.T.T.

Dancers dominated to cartoon shadows

Choir boys drowned with descant

Slinky slitted ‘Holy Night’

With four stressed tenors

A sad gaffe

Business promotion gone awry

Dancing With the Stars

Razzamatazz

Overcooked overmasked overdressed

Out of genre – overdone

Kudos to you for DWTS!

Dazzle misplaced

Camera scans of tight lips

Perfunctory applause

Audience and performers all

Strained

Something badly misjudged

In planning and performing

Beautiful woman O glorious voice

Worthy Star for years to come -

Commandeering prima dona

Or manipulated pawn -

Sadly lost was ineffable

Sometimes stars shouldn't listen to the management or the PR department. I guess you could write about Charlotte Church in a similar way... The repetition of 'over' and commenting 'mis' is especially effective. I'm shocked people don't know who she is.

Isobel, Miss Jenkins is a delightful and very attractive entertainer. I hope you do see and hear her sometime. She is multi-talented in many music genres. It is entirely because she is outstanding that I was so taken aback by the overall production of her show, and the effect that it had on me. Anthony's excellent comments, and Graham's proprietary-ship were quite understandable. Thanks for the fresh look from all of you.

LOL - perhaps I got you mixed up with someone else. I'm forever confusing you with Greg Freeman - after all both your names start with a G...

Thinking about it, it was probably Sid Vicious who commented on this poem originally. I think all men are in agreement that Katherine Jenkins is a bit of hot totty, though, so I'll tar you with that brush ;)

PLEASE don't ever take any of my comments to heart Cynthia. I have never known what I'm talking about - let alone writing. Write what YOU feel, even if others won't necessarily see it from your viewpoint. Eye candy is not the same (or as enduringly rewarding) as I.Q. candy. The male's primary response, however, is hard-wired in the genes.

Don't apologise Cynthia - your earlier piece was just in a different style.

I see you have cut out a lot of words from the previous version which gives it more the feel of poetry without changing what you are saying.

It's all been very informative for me - I don't think I've ever seen or heard KJ before - but I'm likely to avoid doing so now. I think she's best left to the Graham Sherwoods and Anthony Emmersons of this world ;)

I like the way you end on ineffable Grace - the thing that makes someone true quality is often hard to put your finger on. I enjoyed this.
