Stop!
Stop!
The sabres are rattling again,
Big hefty meat cleavers
That shrink flesh
And fry the soul,
I thought,
We thought this was done,
No more the battle
For whom has the biggest gun,
But it seems the powers
That be are once again
Playing a treacherous game,
A game we know
Can never be won,
X on X off,
Your turn to host the show
With an O for the obedience
Of the masses,
We’re getting skilled
In killing by the use of drones,
But even the pilots
Of the new buzz bomb
Can’t hide from
All things inter-continental,
And it’s getting so crazy it’s
Mental,
The once fascist bomb
Now the talk of the West
And feared by the Asian,
When on Earth does it stop,
When on Earth are our leaders
To perpetuate peace??
Time and time
Again we live under
Threat,
Time and time again
We’re courting death
Like we never give
A fuck for our fellow human
Beings,
And there,
I see a child with gunshot
Wound to the head,
A gunshot wound
To us all
For a lost child
Is a lost hope,
And she cries into
The arms of a GI
Who must wonder as all
Wonder,
Why?
Why in this day and age
Are we still
Proliferating war
Amongst each other
Like the money that it makes
Matters,
Like the winner
Can claim the higher
Ground for politics
And religion,
The Ministry even told -
It’s an unwinnable war,
For the theology
A race of people are
Just not ready for,
But still despite
All trials of man
We have not yet
Harnessed dialogue
Amongst our peers -
Have not yet sold
To the Asian man
The reasons why
We muster all validity,
We’ve tried our best
To influence the take
On rights of women
On rights of children,
But while flying flags
That claim democracy
In our own back yard
When it’s plainly obvious
We have problems;
Just isn’t going to sell
Authentic reasons for change
No reason to claim
The West is the best no more
But there,
The East fairs no better too!
There are so many reasons
The World needs to come together,
For the Globe cannot
Manage all to live
While ethics dictate
The feuds of old,
Be you American or
China in your eyes,
You need embrace
A change at the core
Of all your being,
We all need embrace the
Change to share a world
Made for all,
And it’s not
Through the pontificating
Of the afterlife,
We are in the here and now
The here and now
Teetering close
To no futures,
No futures for all our
Children no matter
Creed or colour,
No future for all
And it is so frustrating,
So damned fekking frustrating
That we all cannot reach
Those who sit
Idly within antiquity
And instil the sense of loss
For clinging onto
Values of old.
We can win,
We can all win,
If we puncture
With all collective might
The tyres of the war machine
That goes round and round and round,
For you ask the GI
Who tends the wounded
Child sat upon his knee;
Does he really want the fight?
And though he’s loathed
To admit the fight for
Human rights is losing
Its momentum,
We just cannot go it alone
While a never ending
Queue of those declared
As enemy of The West
Lines up to seize a gun!
It’s in our Leaders that we trust,
It’s in our Leaders
We expect the truth,
But they seem so very far away
From the common man
Who talks the common sense
And walks the common ground
As soldier,
We need cessation
Of the war,
We need the leaders haggling
Round the table not for
Who sits pretty in Gods eyes,
But for how they’ll share
The task of saving the states
That cannot feed themselves,
Warfare,
Is no vision of the future,
It is in the here and now
That takes away the future,
For futures sake pull
Away the grandiose designs,
Talk not upon religion
Talk not upon traditions
That cripple many folk,
Be you Taliban or al quaeda,
Be you Chinese Russian
African American or European,
The world is losing ground
While stubbornness
Declares each man a warrior,
While it’s plain to see
There’s a shrinking future
On horizons daubed with blood.
Warfare takes away all futures,
Declare only that you’re human
Declare you have ‘All Earths’
Peoples interests at heart,
Sit around a table
Made only for good will,
And talk the common sense of peace.

I'm not really a huge fan of 'ranting' but the sentiment behind this is impossible to ignore. I enjoyed reading it.
