Middle Eastern Man
Middle Eastern Man
I was a soldier once,
Then a communicator,
They say you’re a soldier first and foremost,
Before reaching for the radio,
Yet, before all this,
There was a history that started a long time ago,
I was a Human Being once,
Then a Christian yet I add,
I was always a Human Being
Before the being of Christian,
And yes, it started a long time ago.
We are each born individually,
We are each brought into the world
As delicately as possible,
And most go to the afterlife
On their own too,
Nevertheless, along the way
We pick up messages from
Those keen to communicate
Their teachings,
And for the most,
There are many things valid
That helps us live,
But religion,
Religion divides peoples,
Nations – countries and creed,
So much so,
That man bleeds his life away.
Part 2
I was always a Human Being
First and foremost,
And I look to the Middle Eastern man
And I do not see a religion,
I see a human being like many in the West,
Having been indoctrinated as soon as
He could learn to read,
I see a human being the world
Is worth sharing with,
I never see religion,
And dare I say it,
I have always seen the human being
Before God or Allah!
We all grow,
We all are told fables
And histories before our time,
But time is evolving,
Forming new places to go
New places to see and wonder,
And it is evolving human beings too,
My hope,
Is that soon this war
Will be over,
But,
We need to let go
Of that which in the past
Has held us back,
The Middle Eastern man,
Like us, keeps many thoughts private,
But what he cannot do,
Like us all,
Is hide the fact that like us,
We who sometimes become the grandiose;
He is a human being first and foremost,
With the same compassion and logic
As we all have,
That knows the killing of each other,
Is wrong.

Such sentiments are always topical, and need to be expressed in all arenas. This is thought-provoking, major ideas reading in an easy, accessible way. The repetition is very effective, always refocussing the main theme of the title..
