Sleep Paralysis
Sleep Paralysis
I wake the recurring dream
Night following night,
Slipping in slumber a wonder
If daylight dawns again and
Though the brain battles
Brave,
The REM gives game away.
The tease of dodging
Tracers please but then,
Searing led enters,
Pain of every bullet thunders –
Ripples muscles strained;
Sleeping deceased the ground
Pulls fast and gasp!
I’m removed from battle
Fast.
I lay awake.
Count seconds till the torso
Asks, the paralysis over,
The bed swamped in sweat,
My soul re-takes this body slain,
The grave empty for yet another day.
