Little Wing / Epidermis
Little Wing 1968
by Jimi Hendrix
Well she's walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that's running round
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and fairy tales
That's all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind.
When I'm sad, she comes to me
With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free
It's alright she says it's alright
Take anything you want from me,
anything.
Fly on little wing,
Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing
Aquanetta is a fictional character from my yet unpublished novel titled Bottomless Sky
Epidermis
Aquanetta’s molting again
Crossing to another
Side of herself
Another country
She’s not starting over
But starting again
Her insanity (I believe) is inspired
She knows she’s ready
So she takes it
Freedom
Lovers ask
Why she has
Wings tattooed
Inside her thighs
She replies
If you need to ask
You’ll never know
Aquanetta says
My omphalos is free
Though the creature
Between wings is
Too big to fly
I’m too ambitious to settle
For walking
Too defiant for declivity
For skin
She’s shifting to some place
She has no access to
But is bound for
Stories are consequential
She is simultaneously
Here and gone
Releasing habits and duty
Liberation is philosophical
Escape is redemptive
Dark episodes provide opportunities
To excogitate
Struggle
Create
At the edge of a precipice
Machinating an overthrow of identity
This woman without fear
Is learning to play with lions
It wasn’t bloodline and family
Or dynasty she needed to escape
It was bloodstream
Social DNA
Trouble
In mind
Transbluesency
Her cocoon was self-loathing
Her wings narcissistic
She decided on a single name like Madonna
Prince
Sting
Medusa
As protest and to occupy
Her skin
