VOICE OF THE INNOCENTS
VOICE OF THE INNOCENTS.
Soldier, soldier, can you hear me?
Soldier, soldier, don’t shed no tears for me.
Soldier, soldier, what you doing here?
Soldier, soldier, tell me what it is you fear
Soldier, soldier, fighting for my rights.
Soldier, soldier, got me in your sights.
Soldier, soldier, do you hear the screams?
Soldier, soldier, what’s in your dreams?
Burning babies in a burning land?
Dying in a war they don’t understand.
This wasn’t the way their lives were planned.
With avarice and greed the flames of hate are fanned.
Soldier, soldier, with bayonet glistening
Soldier, soldier, are you listening?
Soldier, soldier, why do you fight?
Soldier, soldier, do you sleep easy at night?
Soldier, soldier, where you from?
Soldier, soldier, dropping bombs.
Soldier, soldier, can’t you hear the cries?
Soldier, soldier, do you believe the lies?
The justification your government gave
There were innocent people they needed to save
Now those innocents are digging their graves
The truth is soldier, its oil they crave.
Soldier, soldier, put down your gun.
Soldier, soldier, the war’s been won.
Soldier, soldier, part of the machine.
Soldier, soldier, remember what you’ve seen
Soldier, soldier, in a strange land.
Soldier, soldier, take my hand.
Soldier, soldier, let’s make peace.
Soldier, soldier, you’ve been released.
To go back home to your family and friends.
To be the soldier on whom they depend.
They in turn will help you mend
But please remember, this isn’t the end for us.
SOLDIER,
SOLDIER,
CAN YOU HEAR ME?
SOLDIER !!
