04.02.14: 1) I should be composing poetry

About this years trip

Words flowing like water, like firing a pistol from the hip

Ready to take stock, seems like I've a mental block

So much has been going on

One year by this time I'd written many,

So far this year I haven't written any

Hopefully in April when I get on the plane

My inspiration will be back again

 

17.02.14: 2) No need for dread, The Forrest Fest goes ahead

Were that I was there but alas I'm booked elsewhere

Still I live in hope not fear, that I'll be there next year

When once again The Road Poet gives his best

At the Lamesa Forrest Fest

(Written to let the organisers of the Forrrest Fest know I couldn't make it this year)

 

26.03.14: 3) Last year they changed my time of landing

Three hours late on arrival date

I'd stayed up all night to catch an early flight

This year to do things right, I decided to catch the later flight

I had intended it wouldn't be extended

To help the company did the most, sent my e ticket by post

Safely stored, hopes of no problems soared

This year they've changed things again

There latest plan is a belter, my ticket was taken over by Delta

Now on the way, there's a stopover at JFK

Where I catch the final plane

A longer flight and later arrival again

Apparently I've nothing to fear,

It's common at certain times of the year

Or for airlines at certain seasons

To amend their schedules

For commercial and operational reasons

They've said it's fine, I can book in online

So hopefully there'll be no dismay

And I'll be away on departure day

 

29.03.14: 4) Time passing steady,

Soon be time to get things ready

Voucher arrived for my hire car,

Then need sat nav to help me go far

Far and beyond, in that land across the pond

Motels booked, room for one

Perfect getaway at the end of the day

A good night of undisturbed sleeping

Then up and away as dawn comes creeping

To poetry and much more when I'm on my fourth Texas Tour

 

5) In Lamesa will be seen Forrest Fest 2014

The Road Poet will not be there it doesn't mean he doesn't care

That weekend he's doing poetry elsewhere

Giving his best as he ought

But he'll be at the Forrest Fest in thought

A spiritual message to bless

Hoping the event is a great success

Written as a return good luckmessage to the organisers of the FF on receiving a goodwill messasge from them.

 

01.04.14: 6) April 1st and I was fearing the worst

I was told it would be fine, checking in online

Try as I might, things wouldn't go right

I followed every rule

But wondered if I'd was being an April Fool

I'd try again and again but it all seemed in vain

It seemed it wasn't my day

As the system didn't want to seem to play

So an e mail was send, to the airline it went

Back came the reply with further info to try

So with adherence and perseverance

Like coins being minted my boarding passes were soon printed

Then with nothing lacking it was luggage packing

For tomorrows flight, get things right

So it's not in vain, when The Road Poet hits Texas again
