Celebrating Shakespeare, Heaney and Dylan Thomas in month of poetry at Stratford-upon-Avon
The poetry of Shakespeare, Seamus Heaney, Dylan Thomas, Siegfried Sassoon and Norman MacCaig will be celebrated during a month of festival events that begin in Stratford-upon-Avon on Wednesday 2 July. Poets appearing include Maura Dooley, Helen Mort, Zaffar Kunial and Mike Harding, while the festival’s poet-in-residence, Jo Bell, will run workshops and head a special event, Poetry from the 52 Project, the weekly online writing challenge that she launched in January this year. There will be also be events featuring young people’s poetry, a day of “people’s poetry”, a poetry choir, and an all-night poetry workshop. At the final event in early August Dame Judi Dench will share some of her favourite poems. More details
