Tour de France The Grand Depart
My anual submission of the poem to celebrate the occasion of the Tour de France
oooh... ahhh
oooh... ahhh
aching buttocks
aching thighs
unseen crowds
unseen skies
between the shoulders
lakes of fire
stinging eyes
on the spinning tyre
calves and heart
will explode
grip the 'bars
eat the road
kilo meters
whirring chains
from Leeds to London
passing trains
the body's racked
the body begs
pressing down
on un-stretched legs
lost the pack
spirits low
want to stop
but miles to go...
oooh ahhh
oooh ahhh
oooh ahhh...

A great take on the start of the Worlds greatest cycle race Tommy. Captures the loneliness and adrenaline rush of the cyclist to the heartbeat.
