REMEMBER

entry picture

Remember

The sea with fury

Beating waves upon the shore

The birds - soaring high

But now the horror falls

Upon the blind man

Upon the dog who howls to the once blue sky

A child - who wonders if this is life

Crawls beneath the debris of his time

Seven times I heard their scream

Once I heard their death

Is this a dream ?

As I stumble in the mist

I try to find a distant memory

A road - a home - where children  played

But all I see are buildings stark and frayed

Amongst the swirling dust

I see a long lost book

Its pages fluttering helplessly

Beneath my feet

Its life has gone

Upon the page - a young face

Looks up at me

And with pleading eyes

It says

Why oh why ?

Interested in the theme of nature carrying on amidst war and claiming the world back afterwards. You capture this idea in the bird, the dog and to a less extent the child. Enjoyed

Both the poem and picture capture a great strength coupled with the loneliness of the subject. It is indeed a lovely piece of work Jean.
