Hey, poets!
Why not take part in a new and exciting poetry work at the Contact Theatre in Manchester?
Performance poets Dominic Berry and Lisa B (both prolific artists on Manchester ’s poetry circuit and previous Contact RAW Jam Writers in Residence) are looking for volunteers to take part in a show on Friday February 8th and Saturday 9th February 2008.
We are looking for people who will write and perform their own work. All genres of poetry are welcomed, from hip hop to haikus! You don’t have to be an experienced writer to get involved, but you must be available to commit to some workshops in December and January.
Through the December workshops at Contact, volunteers will devise and write new work exploring the theme of modern love. Then, in January, we will lead workshops on performance which will shape the delivery of the show. Dates are to be confirmed, but they will all be in the evenings.
We are calling this a queer community show, but we don’t mean it is only for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning individuals. We define
queer as a state of mind, and anyone who feels that they do not fit ‘the norm’. It is less about sexuality, and more about wanting to create a
different and challenging piece of work. This is a great chance to get your poetry on stage and we are looking for as diverse cast as possible.
For more information, just contact Dominic one of these ways…
