'The Lady By The Sea'
There is a lady, who lives in a house, by the sea.
Nobody seems to know her, so they just let her be.
She walks the golden sands, when the sun goes down.
Close to the shore, wearing a long black gown.
I have seen face a couple of times, over the years.
She looks tied and sad, her eyes always full of tears.
When I am alone I think of her, and I wonder why.
She is so unhappy, my interpretations, begin to make me cry.
Has she lost a child, was she some ones mother.
A sibling, a parent, a broken romance, or jilted by a lover.
Slowly and sadly, she walks the shore once more.
Day after day, and month by month, as she has done before.
Then just last week, as the sun came down.
For the first time ever, she was nowhere to be seen.
Then I noticed in the distance, on a hill far away.
A priest, head bowed, like he was about to pray
Next day in the paper, read a small obituary.
The angels welcome, the lady from the house by the sea.
