Thoughts Spin
Thoughts Spin
Redwoods, furs, lush forests surround
Plants, flowers, grass cover the ground
Walking down the shaded road
On my mind, a heavy load
I approach a railroad crossing, old, worn down
Weeds have overgrown the steel rails and tar stained ties
I look both ways, all the way down
Two different paths, each containing their own lies
The trees to the sides of the rails cover the line
Giving a tunneled view that darkens, so the choice is mine
Go left through the tunnel to find a tunnel
Or right through the tunnel to find a bridge
For a second I look up into the sky
Breathe deep and close my eyes
I can see it, but where can it be found?
I remain quiet and listen for the sound
I hear only the birds and the soft hum of the wind
Thoughts spin
Which way do I go?
How should I know?
This is not fair
But she does not care
It’s a challenge for me to pick the right way
It’s a challenge for me to stay
I must choose
I can’t lose
I turn around and walk back down the road
On my mind, a heavy load.
