Walking the dog
Walking the dog
The grass is swaying, in the morning breeze, moving gently, tops of the trees
Intoxicating smells, whilst breathing in air, taking in sights, nature does share
Out for a stroll, just walking the dog, spot a young couple, having a snog
Slides are empty and swings are still, kids are playing footy, just over the hill
Birds are chirping, singing their song, I keep on listening and moving along
A couple run by me, out for a jog, pay little attention, to a man and his dog
Humming a tune, to a little known song, a bloke in a mine, a fella called john
See a young girl, sat by the pond, she has long hair, the colour is blonde
Throwing out bread, she's feeding the birds, she's singing a song, forgetting the words
I pass her by and be on my way, she's feeding the birds and happy to stay
The dog is leaping and bouncing about, can see the kids playing footy and
Hearing them shout,
Give it to me, give me the ball, give me the shot, give me the goal
Taking the ball and having a shot, gave it a kick, all that he's got
Out for a walk, me and my dog, again I see the couple, just out for a jog
Flowers in blossom, of varying kind, so pretty in summer, a pleasure to find
Birds and bees are in and out, eating the pollen and taking it out
Up in the tree, a woodpecker taps, making a hole, making a gap
Tap, tap, tap pecking away, making his home, where he can stay
Nearing the end of my morning stroll, dogs getting tired, it's taken it's toll
Wagging his tail, close by my feet, he wants to go home, for his good doggy treat
Leaving the park, on this wonderful day, time to go home, we're on our way
Will be back tomorrow, me and my dog, will probably see the same couple
Out for a jog, enjoying the day and enjoying the sun, enjoying each other's company
Enjoying a run.
