THE LATE DEPARTED
If the Scots become the late departed
Will we English be downhearted,
Knowing they're gone beyond recall
On the darker side of Hadrian's Wall?
Or willl we sing aloud in praise
For leaving us our longer days
And New Years free from haggis and Burns
With wailing pipers taking turns
To make us deaf to proper tune
And gentle voices born to croon.
Let English football see the loss
Of the far too frequent Scottish boss!
The best I keep till last of all,
Setting out my Sassenach stall.
For home folk here - we English true,
It's a lot less votes for the bossy EU!
Scots - away!!! (to coin a phrase).

Oh Yes. A jolly good topical poem and well thought out into the bargain I might add. Will this begin a torrent of like-minded muse I wonder, and what would Robbie Burns might have to say about it all.
