Spreading the word: performance poets flock to Guardian Witness video site

The Guardian says there is only one day left to join in, but already approaching 200 spoken word videos have been uploaded on to its Guardian Witness site. Last month the Guardian’s Comment is Free section said it had commissioned spoken word artists and poets to write and perform a bespoke piece with a comment angle. The first in the mini-series was the poet Hollie McNish. It then urged spoken word artists and poets to send in a performance video. There are a number of videos filmed at Evidently in Salford under the name of host Kieren King, including Joy France, Rod Tame, Dominic Berry, Kate Bendelow, Steve Nash, and Big Charlie Poet, pictured. Other names up there that will be familiar to Write Out Louders include David Lindsay, Ian Whiteley, and Steve Pottinger. You can see the latest offerings here
