Love and Age
Don't go cold
I couldn't stand it.
Don't go cold
I demand it.
Stay with me
I need to read your story
Etched in acid.
Intractable and sad.
Your mind's too deep
My brain's too shallow
You tell me I'm young
You tell me I'm callow.
I can read your face
The lines talk to me
Of indifference, shame
Bitterness at losing out
A chance to have been
Someone.
Don't go cold
I know you're old
I'm alright with it
Don't fight it
Just stay
I'll warm your freezing toes
Have a drink on me
Lemon and hot water.
I heard it helps
With arthritis.

I read this first as "Age", then as "Love" and lastly as both. Beautiful parallels! Good stuff :)
