When desire burns us like a fire

With threats of damnation from above

I wonder if the holy prophets

Got in a tizzy about love.

The detached mind murmurs "Is it ego"?

As down the road to release we go.

Why equate love with desire?

Is there a driven need to inspire

Something deeper than just sex?

That thought will always surely vex.
