Five performance poets who have been shortlisted for an Arts Foundation award will be performing at the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room on Wednesday 28 January at 7.45pm. The five are Rob Auton, Jemima Foxtrot, Sabrina Mahfouz, Hollie McNish and Ross Sutherland. They were shortlisted by judges Neneh Cherry, performance poet Mark Grist and award-winning poet Don Paterson.

The Arts Foundation Fellowship in Spoken Word is one of six £10,000 awards which the independent trust gives annually. The night is supported by spoken word organisation Apples and Snakes, whose  director, Lucy Crompton-Reid, said the five artists “present a wonderful snapshot of the diversity of styles and multiplicity of voices in spoken word right now”.
