Oh yes,

the cheers were aplenty

when I blew the candles out.

 

Presents were presented

and gratefully recieved.

 

Drink flowed.

A great time was had

by one and all.

 

But the next morning

it was'nt the hangover

that made me think..well maybe..

..it was'nt so great after all.

 

It was the underlying fact,

that I was also celebrating

another long step

in the direction of death.
