Promises Starward

The wind blew softly in the trees, echoing an aria of nature around the newly sprouting leaves of spring, as if the wind was christening their entry into the physical world with a gentle playful turbulence.  This was a time of night but darkness was further away from her than it had ever been.  The flames of the fire danced like a hundred blue and orange wood sprites striving towards the heavens but grounded by their ties to earth, left only to ponder the mystery of an ascension in the form of empty smoke starward.  Those stars that seemed to shine brighter that night for some reason.  Maybe magic was in the air because of the lunar eclipse.

He sat behind her, his arms tucked under hers with strong hands holding firmly, gently and crossed above where her heart sat.  For a short time, the first in what seemed like forever she felt as though she was safe in a cold and dangerous world.  Her mind disappeared and as she entered a state of no thought, energy started to move quickly through her body.  First starting low down below the centre of her hips and then rising through her mid section up towards her chest.  She felt her heart start to open as tentatively as a sleeping eye meeting the light of a new morning.  As she turned to kiss him gently, he smelt the wine on her breath and pulled her even tighter towards him under the blanket inwards to his chest, that seemed to wrap around her small fragile frame.  As if protecting her from any harm, an outer armour of his body enveloped her keeping her safe from everyone and everything outside it.

She had often wondered what it would be like to be found but something better than that had unfolded.  She had found a place where she knew it was Ok to be lost.  He was lost too, they both where, but he had never tried to hide it from her.  Only seek her sanctuary and warmth.  She had made herself a million promises before coming here as regards where this would not go.  Those promises left her quicker than the smoke had left the sprites heading starwards.  She was staying the night and nothing was off limits to him.
