And she showed me the scars on her torso.
Not on the ribs, just underneath
Inside
Next to
Her
Heart.
I think she thought I was wise,
I protested in vein
To declare my
Identity as
The fool
That I
Am
I know no answers as regards life
Its mysteries or queries
Or cruelty
Or why
We
Get
Scarred
She asked question after question
I answered pre-empting in
I suppose, Possibly…
And Maybes
Because I
Do not
Know
Much
Then she spoke about this guy she met and how he made her feel and how she was so scared to jump, case what she felt weren’t real
And she spoke about the demons inside and the Angels up above, then she asked me one last question….
“How long does it take, to fall in love?”
I smiled because I knew this one, I knew this one for sure
A fool can know this one thing and a fool can know no more.
I smiled because I saw her eyes and the answer in her stare
And said….
“Baby when you ask that one, you’re probably already there
